Secure FTP with FASTRANS and FAST Download

Secure file transfer protocol (ftp) has been enabled on the host computer that you use with the FASTRANS process. Non-secure ftp connections will not be allowed. You can download the most current version of the secure file transfer software from Computing and Communication's UWICK web page at:

Computing Software web site

FASTRANS Users:

Secure ftp is required when transferring files to Fastrans. All Fastrans users should ftp their files to fastrans.u.washington.edu using SSH Tectia Client (PC) or Secure Fetch or Fugu (MAC). (Mac hint: make sure to transfer your files in text or ASCII).

FAST Download/EXTRACT Users:

The SSH Tectia software will not work for ftp's from the mainframe. FAST Download/EXTRACT PC users can use a two-step unix command process to securely ftp files from the mainframe host (quipu.u.washington.edu) to the local environment. Mac users can use Secure Fetch or Fugu. (Mac hint: make sure to transfer your files in text or ASCII).

If you need assistance using FASTRANS, to obtain the unix command guide for ftp with FAST Download or for general help with these ftp processes, contact Heidi Berrysmith by email at hbsmith@u.washington.edu or by phone at (206) 685-1326.

For assistance with the UWICK software or other computing questions, contact C&C at help@cac.washington.edu or send the question using the form on the web. Send a Question to C&C
