Holidays in Hong Kong
Are those Santa’s flying reindeer above Hong Kong? Nope, it’s the Hong Kong Huskies (antlers and all) at their rooftop holiday bash. What better way to celebrate than a gathering with family and friends?
Giving thanks in Beijing
The Beijing Huskies gathered with family and friends to celebrate a tradition from the land of their alma mater. Their Thanksgiving celebration was held at the Bei Zhaolong Hotel’s Bei Commune.
Indonesia Huskies represent UW
Alumni in Indonesia headed to the U.S. Embassy’s American Center in Jakarta to share Husky Spirit with students considering studying in the U.S. As part of the 2019 International Education Week in November, they shared from their experience at the University and why they are proud to be Huskies.
Another great year for the Japan Huskies
Riding high after hosting UW Converge in 2018, the Japan Huskies returned to their traditional annual gathering format for 2019. More than 60 alums gathered in Tokyo for some great food and drinks, including Seattle craft beer!
Foster School travels the globe
The Foster School wrapped up a busy year with a few stops across the globe. MBA students visited Shanghai and the school’s dean, Frank Hodge connected with Huskies in Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation honored
In November, UW President Ana Mari Cauce presented Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation President Yun-han Chu with a vase commemorating the foundation’s status as a UW Laureate for donations surpassing $1 million. The ceremony took place in Taipei making it the farthest-traveled UW Laureate vase to date.
Shanghai Huskies greet trade delegation
When a trade delegation from the state of Washington headed to China for a relationship-building mission centered on clean tech, aerospace and capital investment events, friends from Seattle were waiting to greet them. The Shanghai Huskies welcomed the delegation at a reception co-hosted by UW’s Global Innovation Exchange (GIX) partner Tsinghua University.
Indonesia Huskies’ big event
Last year, our alumni community in Indonesia marked some major milestones including formalizing chapter leadership and hosting their first annual gathering. Always up for fun, they held their event on Halloween and had plenty of spooky decorations to go along with the UW purple and gold.
Alum offers global perspectives
This October, China Husky Cameron Johnson, ’02, visited Seattle to share his expertise with the Washington State China Relations Council. He was there to offer insights on U.S. and China trade relations gained from living and working in Shanghai, as well as from a recent trip to Washington D.C.
