Barbara Krohn, '47
Barbara A. Krohn was the first woman publisher of the UW Daily, starting in that position in 1977 and retiring in 1991. She began her career at the UW as a drama major but quickly switched to journalism. She worked as news editor of the West Seattle Herald and the University District Herald. She also worked as a government agency information officer, a college instructor and communications director for the Washington Education Association. In 1973, she founded Barbara Krohn and Associates, which still publishes the annual Washington Education Directory.
