CCRA update We are in our second year of the Race to the Top Grant and we’ve had some exciting changes to the program. Last year, there were 17 college and career readiness assistants (CCRAs) in 17 schools; this year we have 47 CCRAs in 36 schools. Each CCRA does something a little different because each school is a little different. The overall goal is that they are working on postsecondary success and access. In the middle schools, this can be supporting the College Bound Scholarship efforts, working on early warning indicators or mentoring specific groups of students. In the high schools, the most common projects are supporting College Bound Scholarship students and college- and financial aid applications. CCRAs also help coordinate the Road Map to College events on Dream Project’s end. This increase in the program would not have been possible without a new position created this year: CCRA coordinators (who are former CCRAs). The coordinators provide consistent support to CCRAs through one-on-ones, site visits and planning professional development. We are in the middle of wrapping up our first quarter with this year’s group and getting ready for winter quarter. If you have any questions about the schools we work with, the program or specific CCRAs, please feel free to contact me at dreamproject@uw.edu.
