AIM Center Uses Inquiry & Action to Transform Urban High Schools

The AIM Center bridges theory and practice to engage youth and professionals in intrinsically motivating and academically significant learning. Through cycles of inquiry and action anchored in a motivational framework, the Center convenes students, educators and researchers as partners in the ongoing transformation of urban high schools. The Aim Center currently partners with Seattle Public Schools, the University of Washington and the community of Cleveland High School.

Dr. Margery Ginsberg and Catherine Brown direct the AIM Center along with a team from the UW College of Education. They have worked on projects such as Data-in-a-Day (DIAD), which invites parents, community members, teachers, students and university partners to spend a day of structured visits to engage in teaching and learning in classrooms at Cleveland High School.
