Letter from the Dean
Dear Graduate Alumni and Friends:
It is my pleasure as the new vice provost and dean of the University of Washington Graduate School to share with you our new Graduate eNews. Since my arrival at The Graduate School last September, I have been continually impressed by the excellence of this University and its graduate programs. In no small part, this is because of the accomplishments of my predecessors and the traditions of achievement that mark their tenure. The legacy of leadership at The Graduate School and throughout our graduate programs is strong, and we now stand on the threshold of great opportunities to enhance graduate education, not only at the UW, but nationally and internationally. I am fortunate to be here at this time of great possibility and growth.
One way we are able to make marked change is to better communicate with our alumni and friends. This e-newsletter is the beginning of my commitment to you to tell the stories about graduate education and the people whose innovations, research and unique perspectives are creating enormous changes and improvements in the ways we live, work and relate in an ever-evolving world.
You can help us in this mission to accurately and thoroughly tell these stories by offering your own perspectives and letting us know where you are and what you are doing. Alumni and friends' stories illustrate the impacts that a graduate education is having locally, nationally, and globally. We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for continuing your engagement with the University of Washington.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Ortega
Vice Provost and Dean, The Graduate School
