The Husky Band is pleased to announce that Kristina Terwilliger has been selected as the band’s next Feature Twirler.
It is no secret to Husky Stadium faithful that the student holding this coveted position must possess an incredible level of expertise and showmanship to live up to the legacy built across the decades since Helen Bassetti was first selected in 1937. Krissy, who hails from Suffern, New York, has received many twirling-related accolades, including the 2012 USTA New York State Solo, Three Baton, and Two-Baton Grand championships and the 2012 USTA Northeast Regional Senior Three-Baton championship. She also won her age group in two-baton, strut, dance twirl and dance twirl pairs at the National Baton Twirling Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Former Husky Band Feature Twirler, Kristie (Burris) Forrest, ’73, who served on the selection committee, says, “Krissy Terwilliger is a standout! She performs her highly difficult and technical routines effortlessly and her love of the sport is evident. Her awards and accolades in both New York State and National Twirling competitions are numerous. Krissy is an elite twirler and an academic standout who will grace the position of Feature Twirler for the Husky Marching Band.”
Krissy, who is the 23rd solo twirler in the 89-year history of the band, plans to major in engineering. She replaces former Feature Twirler Catherine Watters, ’13, who held the position with distinction for the last five seasons.
Welcome to the UW and the Husky Band family, Krissy Terwilliger! |
