You may not realize it but the Husky Band has to pay a licensing fee for every single song performed at pregame or halftime (except those owned by the UW or in the public domain). Tresóna Multimedia is the largest provider of custom arrangement licenses in the United States; they help many of the nation’s top college marching bands with the labor-intensive licensing process.
Along with helping with the band's licensing needs, Tresóna will also be working on digitizing the band's massive media archive. This partnership will ultimately give band alumni the opportunity to watch enhanced footage of some of their favorite halftime and pregame performances online—decades of Husky Band music and video will be made available!
Many of the CDs the band recorded through the years are available through the Tresóna store. Also, fans of the Husky band are now able to download individual tracks if they don’t wish to purchase an entire CD, as well as some tracks that may not even make it onto a CD (from the store page, click on the albums to see the track lists).
As alluded to earlier, Tresóna will also be digitizing of the band’s old 16mm and cassette tape performances of pre-game and halftime shows. All past, present and future HMB members can now download the digitized videos from Tresóna’s website and begin reliving some all-time favorite performances on Tresóna’s YouTube Channel. The newly digitized footage will come with re-colorized images and enhanced sound.
With the help of band service fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi, we are in the process of digitizing our entire media archive. Not all the of videos are posted on YouTube or Tresóna’s website yet, but you can view these memorable Husky Band performances right now:
- Pre-game and halftime shows from the October 7th, 1978 game against Alabama
- 1978 Rose Bowl against Michigan
- 1985 Freedom Bowl against Colorado (on YouTube by doing a search on the Tresóna Marching Band Channel).
You can also download a larger collection of media from our archives by going to the Husky Marching Band page on the Tresóna website. We look forward to helping band alumni and fans rekindle their memories as we work with Tresóna to make more videos available for download in the coming year. |
