Ruby Galen: UWAB Schlarship Recipient |

HMB clarinetist Ruby Galen was named recipient of a UW Almunae Board scholarship, which is awarded to only two UW students each year. HMB Director Brad McDavid, who attended the UWAB Rhododendron Reception, where the scholarships were announced, said “I take enormous pride in witnessing the incredible accomplishments of our Husky Band and Cheer Squad members. I was thrilled to be invited.”
Reflecting on her selection, Ruby stated:
"I feel truly honored to be selected as the 2014 UWAB Scholarship recipient. I know without a doubt that my involvement with the Husky Marching Band not only made me a more competitive applicant for this scholarship, but has made me a more well-rounded student and individual. It has been a blessing to be able to develop my leadership and musicianship abilities alongside my HMB family over the past three years, and I look forward to one more incredible season with the Husky Marching Band!"
Ruby is from Everett and is double majoring in psychology and LSJ, as well as minoring in music. She will be starting her fourth year in the Husky Band this fall. Because of her proven leadership history in the band, she was also recently selected as the band’s undergraduate assistant for the 2014-2015 school year, which is the top student staff position.
