Benjamin Hall Goes Green

The newly constructed Benjamin Hall Interdisciplinary Research Building, home to the Center for Environmental Genomics, is the first building in Washington state to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The design of the Armbrust lab contributed to this certification by incorporating the heat generated from its state-of-the-art server room into the building’s climate control systems.

The many unique conservation measures of the Hall building reduce energy consumption by 30 percent, saving more than $220,000 annually.
