Input Measures
6.1
Instructional Resources
FTE Faculty general fund state including TAs Input Determined by year from University budget and accounting records (Allotment & Expenditures Report - AFARS, as submitted to the State). FY 90-96 completed. Actual staff months by campus (agency code) for state objects AF (faculty) and AH (TA/RAs) for funds 001, 149 & 260. FTE is staff months divided by 12.
6.2
Family Resources
Median family income of freshman Input Reliable data does not exist at this time.
6.3
Instructional Effort
Average scheduled course contact hours by type of faculty Input Collection of contact hours is ongoing. Staff workgroup has made a proposal to simplify methodology. If accepted measure can be uniformly reported for last three years. Total contact hours as recorded in OIS Faculty Workload System extract, by campus for fall quarter (see OIS report Faculty Teaching Workload, By Faculty Home Department and Course Level). N is IPEDS reported faculty. TA N is count of TAs reported teaching divided by 2.

Accomplishment
7.1a
Number of Graduates
Degrees awarded by level Output Data is available. Count of degrees awarded is taken from the IPEDS Degrees Granted and Conferred Survey for each Academic Year.
7.1b
Number of Minority Graduates
Degrees awarded by racial/ethnic minority Output Data is available. Same source as 7.1a above.
7.2
Retention of Students
Retention of students from previous spring term adjusted for degree awards in the Spring & Summer Output and Efficiency Retention from Spring to Fall is taken from Table 14 HEAR Report (to OFM). Degree Award data is from OIS Database. The number of retained students in the Fall is adjusted upward by the number of students attending in the Spring who received a degree award in Spring or Summer. The Retention Rate is the number of students attending in the Fall who attended in the Spring plus the number of students attending in the Spring receiving a degree award in the Spring or Summer divided by the number of students attending in the Spring term. The rate is expressed as a percentage and is for each individual class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, etc.).
7.3
Graduation Efficiency Index
Require minimum credits to degree relative to credits attempted offset for transfer credits Output and Efficiency Available for 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95. 1995-96 to be available in winter, 1997. Based upon USAG transcript data extract. (See GEI report). GEI=((required minimum degree credits - transfer credits - extension credits)/attempted credits as of 10th day) * 100. GEI is provided for transfer and non-transfer students. A transfer student is one who has 30 or more quarter credits transferred (the transferred credits may not be applicable to the particular degree award). GEI outlyers of <0 or >100 are excluded. One GEI value is reported for Bachelor degrees for transfers and non transfers.
7.3a
Graduation Rate
Graduation and Persistence Rate for Freshman Class Output and Efficiency Initial Reporting will be for the Fall 1989 Freshman Class. Data is available. For the Fall entering cohort (entering from high school and enrolled for 12 or more quarter credits) beginning with 1989 expressed as a percentage the number receiving a degree award within 4, 5 and 6 years and the percentage still enrolled in the 7th year.
(Source: Admissions and Records annual report of Graduation and Attrition Rates).
7.4a
Time To Degree
Median year to degree for freshmen Output and Efficiency Data is available for 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95. 1995-96 data is expected to be available 12/15/96. A freshman is defined as being a student having a degree award for which the student transferred fewer than 30 quarter credits (all transfer credits may not be applicable to the degree award). Applicable to Bachelor Degrees only. Time to degree from first enrollment to degree award has been calculated. (See USAG report Degrees Awarded by Level and Type and Time To Degree for indicated AY). Calendar years to degree is derived by counting the number of quarters over all years, including summer, between the first quarter enrolled and degree award quarter divided by 4. The count of quarters includes the first quarter and degree award quarter.
7.4b
Time To Degree
Median years to degree for students who transfer with AA degree Output and Efficiency Data is available for 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95. 1995-96 data is expected to be available 12/15/96. see 7.4a
An AA degree holder is defined as being any student whose last school is a Washington State Community College and has 90 transfer credits. Calendar years to degree is derived by counting the number of quarters over all years, including summer, between the first quarter enrolled and degree award quarter divided by 4. The count of quarters includes the first quarter and degree award quarter.
Transition Alternative for 7.4a Time To Degree (no transition alternative for 7.4b is available) Median years to degree for freshman Output and Efficiency Measure to be extracted from NCAA Graduation Report Based upon an entering cohort (initial cohort is Fall, 1989) calculated median time to degree using grouped data (4, 5, and 6 year). See attached. The NCAA entering cohort is composed of students entering from high school within two years of high school graduation with fewer that 45 quarter credits.

Productivity
8.1
Instructional Productivity
Total Degrees per FTE (see measure 6.1 and 7.1a above) Output and Efficiency Data is available. Count of degrees (measure 7.1a) divided by sum of faculty and TA FTEs (see measure 6.1)
8.2
Instructional Productivity
Student FTEs per type of faculty Efficiency Data is available. Credit hours instructed are summed by instructor group. Credit hours are attributed to the instructor(s) of the primary class meeting for fall. Instructor N is taken from IPEDS report. TA N is count of fall quarter TAs reported teaching divided by 2. Student FTEs = Quarter SCH/15 for courses <=499 and Quarter SCH/10 for courses >=500. (See OIS report Faculty Teaching Workload, By Faculty Home Department and Course Level).
