As we move into a future marked by rapid change and increasing dependence on knowledge, the University's role--and its quality--become more important than ever. This report is a brief accounting of the UW's work and contributions. It ends with highlights of the 1999 budget request--the resources the University needs to serve the future.

The University of Washington urges the state and its legislature to support the kind of education that will sustain Washington's opportunities, prosperity, progress, and quality of life.
