TCAC Commentaries Concerning Tri-Campus Interconnections, Collaborations & Linkages--Appendix 3

Cross-Campus Faculty Collaboration and Linkages

Copy of e-mail message sent by Dr. Norman J. Rose, Tri-Campus Advisory Committee (TCAC) Chair, to members of the TCAC (March 30, 1999)

Dear Colleagues:

In anticipation of Thursday's meeting, this e-mail is a portion of my effort to bring to our attention some of the cross-campus faculty collaborations and linkages currently in place. The two collaborations described below were funded through "Tools for Transformation". These descriptions were copied from the Strategies and Initiatives portion of the UW web site, http://www.washington.edu/change/proposals/, where all of the initiatives funded to date by "Tools for Transformation" are located:

Human Rights Education and Research Network

Three-Campus Human Rights Network

The HERN at its Bothell, Seattle, and Tacoma sites will promote the integration of scholarship and teaching of human rights by generating leading research, developing new pathways of learning for students, and relating this work to the world of practice. The non-partisan Center will provide intellectual, institutional, and financial support for researchers and teachers at all levels of theory and practice to further their work in the emerging field of human rights. It will develop a world-class bank of resources that will include extensive manuscript and electronic library resources, opportunities for students and faculty to do primary research.

Date Funded: December 1998
