Recruiting Undergraduates in Teaching Careers
Undergraduate Focus on Education
The College of Education is implementing an Undergraduate Initiative aimed at assisting undergraduates who are interested in education to move into the profession of teaching. An important goal is to attract undergraduates in mathematics, science, technology, and special education. The UIF Unit Specific funds are being used to support faculty leadership for the Initiative and to enhance current College of Education contributions to the program. Key components of the Undergraduate Initiative include a service learning experience in education, a new course, EDUC 310, "Current Issues in Education," an opportunity to join a faculty-directed research project, and early admission into the Master in Teaching Program. In addition, highly qualified students are eligible for an undergraduate scholarship.
