Eleanor Falla | UW Bothell Trustee

Class of 2015, UW Bothell, Bachelors of Science, Computer Science/Applied Computing

Why I Serve

I grew up with Huskies as pets and continued that tradition as an adult. The family joke is our dogs are the foundation for my love of the UW! My own journey to becoming a student was unique. Circumstances led me to launch my university education elsewhere before transferring to UW Bothell. As a Trustee, I hope to be a positive example that finding the right path sometimes includes a few detours.

There are many open doors to the UW experience. The Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma campuses all offer top-tier UW educations with distinctive flavors. I thrived in the Bothell environment. I had access to the resources of a large institution with the intimacy of a smaller campus. Even UW Bothell’s geography is special. It borders the Campus Wetland with trails along the perimeter. As a student, I enjoyed an urban setting with nature’s calming presence only a few steps away.

My father’s enthusiasm for computer science inspired me to pursue the field with an added focus on business. The fundamentals of computer science are invaluable to my current career, but my UW education also benefited me in unexpected ways. A UW Bothell leadership course completely changed how I approach public speaking and presentations. They are skills I still use today.

I served on the UW Bothell Alumni Council for eight years and am excited to continue my service as a Trustee. There is such joy that comes with being part of the Husky community.
