Save the date: Spring BBQ and Live the Dream

We’re busy getting ready for two Dream Project spring events: Spring BBQ and Live the Dream!

Spring BBQ: May 6

Spring BBQ is our biggest event of the year. High school juniors from all our partner schools take a field trip to visit the UW. Dream Project volunteers guide tours and provide lunch, while UW professors deliver lectures, giving students a peek inside what the college experience is really like! For many of our students, this will be their first time on a college campus, allowing them to truly imagine what it would be like to go to college and providing a good push to start thinking about plans after high school. This event is truly inspirational! Spring BBQ will take place on May 6.

Live the Dream: May 25

Live the Dream is an awards ceremony for mentees who have been chosen to receive the $1,000 Live the Dream Scholarship. High school student Dream Project participants are nominated for the scholarship by their college student mentors and must plan to attend the UW and be accepted to a UW campus to be eligible. Once nominated, students submit essay applications, and a selection committee determines which students will receive scholarship awards each year. Recipients are invited to attend this event with their families and counselors. The event includes short video vignettes, light refreshments and an awards presentation. Live the Dream will take place on May 25.

Last year Dream Project was able to give 22 scholarships to mentees, and we will give more this year!
