Get together with your fellow Dawgs to enjoy cold drinks and summer vibes! The UW Alumni Association is partnering with a neighborhood brewery and a local sports pub for two nights of fun. Bring your friends and family and enjoy tasty food, local brews, purple and gold swag and great company during the peak of Seattle’s sunshine.
UWAA Members: $5 | General Public: $10 | Children 5 and younger: Free
Ticket price includes one drink ticket (alcoholic or non-alcoholic options) and hosted heavy appetizers.

The UW Alumni Association, MAP: Alumni of Color Network and the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center extend a special welcome to BIPOC Husky alumni and friends at this casual summer gathering.
Ravenna Brewing is beloved for its friendly staff, homey atmosphere and creative brews. Enjoy heavy appetizers from a Southern-inspired food menu by That Brown Girl Cooks!, with mouth-watering options for both vegetarians and meat-eaters. The covered patio is family-friendly as well as dog-friendly. UWAA is taking over the brewery’s private event space, so tell a fellow Husky and bring the whole pack!

Get to know Magdalena Fonseca
Magdalena Fonseca has served as the Director for the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center for the past six years. She has spent twenty-five years in total at the University of Washington! In 2014 she co-founded the Leadership Without Borders Center, the first center dedicated to serving undocumented students in institutions of higher education in the Pacific Northwest. In 2016 she was awarded the UW Distinguished Staff Award for her efforts in supporting and advocating for undocumented students on campus.
Magdalena’s passion in advocating on behalf of immigrants is firmly rooted in her own immigrant experience: she is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico and came to the United States at the age of six. Magdalena holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Washington.
Get to know Ravenna Brewing
Originally from Los Angeles, Tommy Ransom, ’05, moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. He pursued a career in ethical hacking, working for Google and Expedia. In 2016, Tommy, along with his wife and brother-in-law, founded Ravenna Brewing Co. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, attending UW sporting events, from football to golf.
The Ravenna Brewing team is chock-full of proud Huskies! Head brewer Audra Johansen, ’13, graduated with a degree in chemistry, while lead brewer Alex Woloszczoski, ’04, studied German literature and language. Events director Frieda Cohan, ’18, earned her degree from the Program on the Environment.
Get to know That Brown Girl Cooks!
Kristi Brown is the chef behind That Brown Girl Cooks! Starting at a small café in downtown Seattle, she has done just about everything from dishwasher/prep cook to running her own catering business for nearly a decade. From the beginning, her vision was to focus on the art and experience of food through culinary activism. This purpose is powered by her mantra, “Everybody’s Gotta Eat!”
Chef Kristi builds community through the cultivation of fresh food and fine cooking. Chef Kristi opened the award-winning Communion Restaurant and Bar in 2020, and was nominated for the 2024 James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Northwest and Pacific region.

The UW Alumni Association and the Q Center extend a special welcome to LGBTQIA+ Husky Alumni and friends at this casual summer gathering.
Rough & Tumble Pub is the first pub in Seattle devoted to women’s sports! This family-friendly spot in the heart of Ballard boasts lots of light and a sunny patio, plus pool tables and a great selection of women’s sports memorabilia. Your ticket includes a free drink (including draft pours, wine, gluten-free and non-alcoholic options). Enjoy heavy appetizers off of the Rough & Tumble menu, which includes robust vegetarian and vegan options. Whether you are a sports fan or just looking to enjoy a night on the town, this is a great place to raise a glass with your fellow Huskies.

Get to know Jen Self
Dr. Jen Self, ’05, ’10, (they/them) is an anti-racist white, queer, genderqueer, graduate of the University of Washington School of Social Work and founder of the UW Q Center. They are an Assistant Clinical Professor at the School of Social Work and part-time lecturer at GWSS. Dr. Self is the CEO of Brick 13 where they are an Organizational Culture Change Strategist, Consultant and Coach. They trained as a therapist many moons ago and have worked as a LICSW since 2003, working from a justice-oriented perspective, focusing on identity development, self-efficacy, healing trauma and collective liberation. Dr. Self is a visionary, an outcast, an innovator, a community builder, a chameleon, a connector of ideas & people, a musical theater nerd, a continual learner, a creator, a parent, a pro-femme space advocate, a partner, a survivor of many things, always a radical truth-teller, and even on a good day, continually shaking off the teachings of White supremacy.
Get to know Brennon Ham
Brennon Ham (Brennon/they/any) is a dedicated advocate and leader, currently serving as the Director of the Q Center at the University of Washington. Their experience as a queer, bigender, mixed-Latinx, formerly homeless, survivor of violence informs their mission to create spaces of belonging for students. Brennon’s recent work spans transforming policy and practice in K-12 greater Seattle school districts, coaching swimming, and driving institutional change at the University of Washington to foster affirming environments for all students. They love their work and serving queer and trans students, staff and faculty at the UW.

When less than 5% of sports media coverage is dedicated to women’s sports, where can fans go to watch their games and cheer together? Rough & Tumble Pub exists to change this dynamic, leveling the playing field and spotlighting everything from soccer to rock climbing, from basketball to track and field.
Jen Barnes is the owner, founder and creator behind Rough & Tumble Pub. Jen is a life-long athlete, tireless fan, perpetual optimist and entrepreneur. Her latest venture is equal parts community public house and personal passion. A dynamic entrepreneur and senior executive with 25+ years of experience building vibrant, award-winning companies, Jen started her first business in the food industry at the age of six and has spent the past two-plus decades leading teams and running companies across industry sectors. Today, she brings together her passion for both sports and gender equality together by investing in women’s sports.
