Thailand Chapter Raises $10,000 for Scholarships

One of the highlights of the 2016 International Alumni Weekend last November was a ceremony where the Thailand Huskies presented the University with a giant check pledging $10,000 to student scholarships.

The gift was fitting since that weekend also marked the official start of the international phase of UW’s comprehensive fundraising campaign. As part of the campaign and for the first time ever, our international alumni chapters have been invited to participate in raising funds to help make UW a truly global university.

The Thailand Huskies raised their inaugural contribution to the campaign at an all-day golf tournament in Bangkok. About a hundred alumni and friends hit the links for a day of fun and giving back. Teams of four joined in friendly competition, participated in raffles and played for hole prizes.

We are deeply grateful to Thailand Huskies chapter president Boon Chaya and the current board members for organizing such a great event and for donating the proceeds toward student support.
