Andrew leads institutional strategy in foundation relations, coordinates major interdisciplinary initiatives for institutional priorities, coaches faculty selected for private foundation limited submission opportunities on proposal development and trains Advancement staff and faculty in corporate and foundation relations best practices. In addition, he supports non-STEM opportunities including education, policy, law, business, arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Lene collaborates with UW colleagues to develop and implement strategies to engage with foundations at unit and institutional levels. She supports the health science units including Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work and Dentistry. In partnership with the senior director, she works with the Office of Research to review foundation limited submission opportunities and coaches those faculty selected to move forward on their proposals.

Mark leads the central corporate relations team in building holistic, mutually beneficial industry partnerships and engagements across the broader UW community. Together with colleagues, he works to create campus-wide strategies and develop trusted relationships with corporate partners.  Mark brings a deep background in many areas of technology including telecommunications, digital graphics, video compression and automotive research.

Michelle helps staff and the UW’s corporate and foundation partners understand and navigate internal processes and procedures. She helps staff determine whether to apply to funders as the UW or the UW Foundation, and works with the UW Office of Sponsored Programs to manage pre- and post-award activities for grants to the UW Foundation. Michelle provides staff with information on grants and contracts and manages the annual Boeing University Relations and Wells Fargo requests for proposals.

In collaboration with faculty, staff and Advancement colleagues, she helps manage limited submission proposals to national funders; creates personalized stewardship pieces, proposals and other materials for major donors; crafts correspondence and social media posts; and coaches faculty on framing and storytelling.

Kari holds a bachelor’s degree in International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound.

David leads the administrative needs for the Corporate Relations team. In addition to calendaring and coordinating site visits and events, he manages travel and develops content for the Corporate & Foundation Funding Opportunities Database. David holds a master’s degree in Arts Administration from Indiana University Bloomington and a bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Connecticut.

Professional and community connections

The Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations enjoys participating in many organizational fundraising networks, including within the UW, locally and nationally.
