Dear Huskies,
As we enter the spring break, we want to congratulate you for completing another chapter of your academic journey. During this quarter, many of us have faced challenges, from demanding coursework to navigating the uncertainties of the world around us. Yet, you have persevered with resilience, dedication and hard work. Now is the perfect time to take a breath, reflect on your achievements and recharge to prepare for the new opportunities awaiting you in the next quarter.
With a well-deserved break ahead, don’t forget to review relevant documents and make sure you have a valid travel signature if you plan to travel internationally (check out these spring break travel tips). If you are staying in the area, spring offers plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the beauty of Seattle. Here are some activities to explore:
- Experience the Seattle Restaurant Week: If you’re looking for a culinary adventure, Seattle Restaurant Week, from March 30 to April 12, offers an incredible chance to enjoy delicious meals at discounted prices from featured local restaurants. Come support local business and try out new dishes.
- Attend UDistrict Art Walk: Fellow art lovers, you can immerse yourself in creativity at the UDistrict Art Walk on March 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., where local artists showcase their work in various spots along the Ave (learn more about monthly neighborhood art walks in Seattle here).
- Reminisce about Fantasia @ Seattle Symphony: From March 21 to March 23, Seattle Symphony will be playing scores from the magical Disney movie Fantasia. Don’t miss out on this chance to enjoy the nostalgic tunes of Walt Disney productions.
- Recharge in nature: For those who want to embrace the outdoors, Seattle’s parks and hiking trails provide the perfect escape into nature. A visit to Alki Beach can be a great way to enjoy the fresh air and take in stunning views of the Puget Sound. If you’re up for a short expedition, taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island or Poulsbo (also known as Little Norway) can offer a refreshing change of scenery, with charming shops, cozy café and picturesque waterfronts to explore.
- Celebrate the Cherry Blossom Festival: The arrival of spring also brings the much-anticipated cherry blossoms. UW’s 29 cherry trees usually reach peak bloom around the last week of March. If this is your first Spring in Seattle, be sure to take a stroll around the quad, appreciate the fleeting beauty of the cherry blossoms. You can also check out different cherry-blossom flavored or themed goods at the UDistrict Cherry Blossom Festival.
While this break is a time to unwind, it’s also a great moment to look ahead and prepare for the Spring quarter. With new classes and fresh opportunities on the horizon, having an effective plan can help you set the tone for a successful term. If you are looking for on-campus student employment opportunities to enrich your professional experience, mark your calendar for the Spring On-Campus job Fair that takes place on April 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the HUB First Floor Main Street. This is also a great opportunity to practice networking skills in a low stake environment or to prepare you for the upcoming UW Seattle Job and Internship Fair.
As you take this time to rest and explore, remember that each quarter is a step forward in your journey. Whether you’re staying in Seattle, traveling or visiting friends and family, we hope you find moments of joy and relaxation. See you in the spring quarter!
Warmly,
CIRCLE Team
