The Whole U is hosting a scavenger hunt at the Seattle, Bothell, and Tacoma UW campuses, inspired by the best-selling book, “The Boys in the Boat,” about the 9 rowers from the University of Washington who defied all expectations and united as one to bring home the gold medal at the Berlin Olympics in 1936. Teams or individuals will race through time and learn some UW history to uncover each clue. This event coincides with Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, on April 23rd, so this will be a fun opportunity for the whole family!
Daniel James Brown, the author of “The Boys in the Boat,” will be a special guest at the final destination from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday on the Seattle campus. In the spirit of “The Boys in the Boat,” the fastest team for each scavenger hunt will be awarded a ceremonial wreath like the 1936 Olympians.
