Established in 2012, the award is given to a living UW Alumnus Veteran who made a positive impact on their local, national, or international community; the University of Washington; and/or veteran’s communities. New Urban Design Framework for U District
With input from volunteers from public, private and community sectors, including the UW, the University District Livability Partnership has developed a U District Urban Design Framework guiding the future of public spaces, street improvements, zoning, building heights, and housing in the U District.
Call to artists!
University District volunteers associated with the University District Livability Partnership have issued a CALL TO ARTISTS for a project that will create a mural for the north wall of J’s Market in the Jack in the Box parking lot at NE 50th. Applications are due July 8. Three finalists will receive cash awards.

A Ph.D. candidate in astronomy at the University of Washington recently created a map of the world that is outlined using only the locations of the world’s runways, helicopter pads and airports. Read more in the Huffington Post.
