An homage to vinyl records
“The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl” at the Henry Art Gallery is the first museum exhibit to explore the culture of vinyl records and brings together 99 works by 33 artists from around the world. See this audio and visual collection combining fine art with popular culture this Thursday, August 2, when admission is free, or on other “first Thursdays” until October 7.

UW mechanical engineering students paddled to the finish line at Seafair’s Milk Carton Derby in what they believe is the world’s first boat made with a 3-D printer.
UW first with credit courses on massive online platform
In addition to joining a national venture this week to offer free on-line courses, the UW has announced it will be the first university in the U.S. to provide fee-based credit for some of the courses using a new online learning platform.
Free global health exhibit at Seattle Center
“Global Health Experience”, a free exhibit at Seattle Center, highlights Seattle’s role in furthering global health and was coordinated in part by the University of Washington. Visitors to the exhibit can listen to personal stories of health care experiences around the world and see innovations that are improving health outcomes, reports a recent article in the Daily.
