The University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital are partnering with Security Properties to develop Bridges@11th, a project to create a new pool of high-quality housing in the U District. The new community will offer priority access for UW and Children’s employees, and will include larger units and amenities designed for those with families.
When the University acquired several surface parking lots as part of the Safeco Tower purchase, it created an opportunity for the two institutions to partner on the new housing project. Security Properties/Madrona Ridge was chosen to build and operate it.
The UW and Seattle Children’s have a shared interest in creating high-quality and affordable housing for their employees, and in contributing to a vital urban neighborhood. The Bridges@11th community will include 184 total units with a mix of studios, one bedrooms, two bedrooms and three bedrooms. The project also involves a collaboration with the City of Seattle through the Multifamily Property Tax Exemption Program, which allows 20% of the apartment homes to be set aside for those who qualify under the MFTE guidelines.
