About Dr. Klug
Dr. Klug received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Minor in Political Science from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 2012, followed by a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She completed a residency in Laboratory Animal Medicine and a Master’s of Science in Comparative Medicine within the Department of Comparative Medicine at the University of Washington in 2019. She continued as a postdoctoral scholar in the same department, with a focus on comparative pathology from 2019 through 2021, and joined the DCM faculty as an acting instructor in 2021. She became board certified in anatomic pathology by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in September 2022, and has served as an Assistant Professor since 2023.
Dr. Klug’s field of study is comparative pathology. Her specific areas of interest include rodent, small animal, NHP and cricket models of aging, as well as aquatic animal diagnostic pathology and models of disease. She serves as a duty veterinary pathologist on clinical service through the UW Veterinary Diagnostic Lab (UW VDL), as well as performs collaborative research and pathology consultations through the Comparative Pathology Program (CPP). Dr. Klug’s teaching responsibilities include leading pathology rounds for laboratory animal trainees and comparative pathology conferences, and serving as an instructor for DCM pathology courses and rotations, as well as Lab Managed Aquatics courses.
