Washington Athletics to implement vaccine verification beginning Sept. 25

After close consultation with university, local and state public health officials, as well as Seattle’s professional sports franchises, University of Washington Athletics will implement a vaccine verification system for all Husky Athletics ticketed events beginning September 25 with Washington’s football game against California.

Spectators over the age of 12 will need to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event.

At the September 18 football game versus Arkansas State, fans can visit one of several on-site locations to have their vaccine verification pre-approved for the duration of the season. Additionally, the Huskies will be hosting a pop-up vaccine site on September 18 as an optional service for those not yet vaccinated. To find locations to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, visit the vaccine locator tool on the Washington Department of Health website.

Also, in accordance with new guidelines issued by Public Health – Seattle & King County, UW Athletics will enforce a mask mandate for spectators at all events, indoors and outdoors, regardless of vaccination status, effective today (September 7). Per the county guidelines for events larger than 500, this applies to all athletic events, including UW’s September 18 football game, as well as upcoming women’s soccer, men’s soccer and volleyball matches.

More information, including criteria needed to meet the vaccine verification, will be communicated in the coming days.
