AccessComputing Leadership Institute

Highlights

The AccessComputing Leadership Institute, held November 6-7, 2008, in Seattle, WA brought together leaders and emerging leaders in broadening participation in computing for persons with disabilities. The goals of the Institute were threefold:

The institute featured a series of talks, panels, and discussion forums intended to meet the goals. Talks highlighted successful projects, panels included students with disabilities to help inspire new approaches, and discussion forums enabled small groups to brainstorm about what could be done in the future. There was a mixture of people at the workshop, some with vast experience in this area and other who had just expressed an interest in the area.

    1. Share best practices and develop new ones that will help increase the number and success of persons with disabilities in computing fields.
    2. Share and learn about funding opportunities to bring these practices to the people who need them.
    3. Help develop new leadership in broadening participation in computing for persons with disabilities.
