AccessEngineering Featured in Article about Accessible Engineering
AccessEngineering and DO-IT were featured in an article from School Library Journal about accessible engineering and makerspaces. The article discusses how assistive technology and universal design can be used to make sure all students have access to the technology, equipment, and events focused around engineering.
The article quotes AccessEngineering Co-PI Kat Steele, stating "it was key to include a range of tactile rapid prototyping materials at CoMotion for brainstorming. 'People with vision problems can take pipe cleaners and clay and put together something' tangible, and convey ideas three-dimensionally rather than visually."
The article promotes AccessEngineering's minigrant program and new guidelines for creating an accessible makerspace. To learn how to get involved, visit AccessEngineering online.
