Phase III Scholars are completing high school or transitioning to college. Throughout the year, they communicate with other Scholars, Ambassadors, and Mentors and participate in DO-IT activities. Some become Interns at DO-IT Summer Study and participate in other work experiences. Once 2007 Summer Study was over, those Phase III Scholars who graduated from high school became DO-IT Ambassadors.
My name is Shavonne. I was born with Spina Bifida. In my free time I love to read, write stories, and talk to my boyfriend and friends on my computer and on the phone. I am a freshman at Central Washington University. I plan to study biology with an emphasis in pre-med. It is my hope to then go on to medical school and become a podiatrist. Hi. My name is Jennifer. I have Cerebral Palsy. I am a senior at Naches Valley High School. I lettered in choir and am a member of the National Honor Society. I was featured in the Washington State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Annual Report Calendar in the month of May, which was a big honor for me. My plan is to attend Yakima Valley Community College to earn an Associate's degree and then pursue a career as a public relations advocate for people with disabilities. I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience at DO-IT and hope to pass on what I have learned to others. Hello. My name is Kayla. I attend Bellevue Community College and study psychology. Eventually, I would like to transfer to the University of Washington. My disability is Central Core Disease (Muscular Dystrophy). This past year I spoke on student panels to high school students with disabilities about my experiences in high school and college. My name is Daren and I have Dyslexia. I graduated from Kentwood High School and attend Green River Community College. I plan to attend a four-year college and major in biochemistry or physiology and perhaps obtain my Ph.D. at the University of Washington. I like sports and anything in the sun, such as swimming, running, track, going to the beach, and putting a smile on people's faces. I was a DO-IT Intern at Summer Study 2007.
Hi everyone! My name is Bella, and I have Cerebral Palsy, which affects most of my muscles, including my eyes. I use quad canes, a bugsy walker (only for aerobic exercise), or a wheelchair, and I need enlarged visual materials to be able to read. I graduated from Nathan Hale High School where art, language arts, and drama were my favorite classes. My hobbies include babysitting, acting, reading, walking my dogs, and playing the piano. I'm part of the Seattle Public Theater summer youth program at the Bathhouse Theater and have acted in many plays. My career goals are to act in the theater, create art, and work in a daycare or a preschool. I may attend North Seattle, Shoreline, or Edmonds Community College.
I'm Zach, I graduated from Camas High School, and I attend Portland Community College where I am working toward an Associate's degree in fire science. I am interested in a career as a firefighter. My favorite classes are math and fire science. Outside of school, I like to work out and hang out with my friends. I have Dysgraphia, which means that I have trouble writing. Hey. My name is Marlen, and I have learning disabilities that affect my spelling, grammar, reading, and math. I graduated from Orcas Island High School. My favorite subject is science, and I would like to be a dentist. I enjoy swimming in the middle of the night at Cascade Lake and going to Mount Constitution. Hi. My name is Logan. I attend DeVry University where I plan to go into the networking field. One of my favorite classes in high school was weight lifting; there is just something about being in a weight room that makes me feel good as a person. I was one of the ten power lifters from my school who, in 2005, were invited to State. I was the second strongest male in the state for my weight category and the first paraplegic with Cerebral Palsy to compete. Hi. My name is Andrew. I graduated from Nathan Hale High School. My favorite classes were math, drama, and language arts. I learned the true meaning of responsibility from a U.S. history teacher who is a comical, reasonable, and a down-to-earth mentor. I also took part in the musical Moby Dick. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and playing soccer. I participated in the Youth Leadership Forum and was a dance intern at a Visual and Performing Arts Camp called Summer Fun. I attend college at the University of Portland and would like to study law, Spanish, acting, creative writing, and/or engineering. I hope to be fluent in Spanish and travel the world. I have Tourette Syndrome. DO-IT has helped me become more comfortable with not just my disabilities, but also the disabilities of others.

My name is Vishal. I graduated from high school where I was involved in journalism and radio production and was Associate Student Body President. I completed an internship with the UW Athletic Department/Women's Crew this past year. I am now involved in an all-day activity program for students with disabilities. We go on field trips and have picnics on Lake Washington. My career interests include doing data entry or being an office assistant. My name is Noah. I graduated from Newport High School where my favorite classes were U.S. history, world religion, video production, and photography. I was in link crew and croquet club and was involved in student government. Outside of school, I listen to a lot of music and go to concerts. I enjoy playing video games and basketball. Fashion is another passion of mine. I was accepted to be on Nordstrom's Fashion Board. I am the Program Coordinator of the DAMAN Project (Disability Awareness Moving Across the Nation). This year, I won the Central Kitsap Citizen of the Year Award for my efforts with DAMAN. I have Cerebral Palsy and am a member of many national disability organizations, including the Youth Advisory Committee of the National Council on Disability. I recently completed an internship through DO-IT's AccessSTEM program at Positive Solutions. I have also been a keynote speaker at many events and conferences.
