RDE Collaborative Dissemination Project

Date
Thursday, October 1, 2009

On October 1, the University of Washington began the new RDE Collaborative Dissemination Project. Directed by Sheryl Burgstahler, PhD, its objectives are:

  • To increase awareness of how people with disabilities can be successful in STEM.
  • To increase awareness of strategies and resources for making STEM welcoming and accessible to people with disabilities, including the findings, products, and opportunities of RDE-funded projects.
  • To increase collaboration of RDE-funded projects with respect to dissemination.

The project is funded by the Research in Disabilities Education(RDE) program of the National Science Foundation.

Project staff members are leading a community of representatives of RDE-funded projects. All members help design project products, share strategies for making resources accessible, and explore possibilities and develop plans for cooperating on dissemination efforts. Collaboratively, they will create video, print, and online products and utilize the Internet, public television, and existing networks to share what works and what does not to increase the successful participation of people with disabilities in STEM. Project products will be designed to be useful to all RDE projects as part of their training and dissemination efforts. For more information about this project, contact Lyla Crawford, the project coordinator.
