New videos featured on the DO-IT website

DO-IT recently added four new videos to our collection. As with all our videos, each video is fully accessible and can be watched in a variety of forms.

Equal Access: Universal Design of Academic Departments discusses the ways faculty and staff can make their departments and schools more accessible for students with disabilities. Students and faculty both share their experiences and the universal design practices that benefit everyone in creating a more accessible environment.

Captioning Lecture Capture Videos: A Promising Teaching Practice shows how captioning videos in a lecture capture application can help make lectures online easier to understand, interactive, searchable, and accessible for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. This video can especially help faculty learn why it is important and how all people can benefit from captions.

How Can We Include Students With Disabilities in Computing Courses? includes profiles of successful computing students and professionals who happen to have disabilities. In an ever growing demand for commputing professionals, students with disabilities need to be included. Accommodations, assistive technology, and universal design strategies help make computing courses accessible.

How Can We Encourage Students with Disabilities to Pursue Computing?  focuses on the recognized need for a diverse computing workforce to include women, racial/ethnic minorities, and people with disabilities. The video features a computing student with a disability sharing advice on how instructors can better impact an underrepresented student's decision to pursue a computing field. This video was featured in the National Science Foundation 2015 Teaching and Learning Showcase.
