AccessSTEM Creates Online Multimedia Book--Making STEM Accessible to Postsecondary Students with Disabilities

AccessSTEM has created an online multimedia "book" titled Making STEM Accessible to Postsecondary Students with Disabilities, which features a series of online videos, brochures, and checklists for making scienceeducational settings accessible. This includes computing facilities, science and engineering labs, classrooms, makerspaces, online resources, curriculum, and instruction. Highlighted are strategies that are easy to implement when designing a STEM facility or instructional practice, as well as those that are more difficult but will yield long-term results.

Although this book primarily focuses on postsecondary institutions, this publication is relevant to K-12 STEM courses, labs, and programs as well. This content is useful to anyone who desires to make STEM learning settings welcoming and accessible to students with disabilities.

To fill increasing numbers of open positions in STEM fields, the US must draw from a talent pool that includes all demographics, including those with disabilities. Join in the effort to make all educational settings and experiences fully accessible to all students.
