AccessSTEM has recently created a new room, The STEM Lab, in our AccessCollege Center, where resources are collected and distributed by audience. The STEM Lab guides educators and researchers how to create accessible science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) academic environments and physical spaces that maximize the learning of all students, including those with disabilities.

Currently, The STEM Lab features the multimedia book Making STEM Accessible to Students with Disabilities, resources for making physical environments (including science and engineering labs, makerspaces, and computing spaces) accessible, examples of accessible science equipment, and other resources to create an accessible learning and research space. It also explains the background and uses of Universal Design and accommodations, as well as the legal rights and responsibilities of faculty, campus services, and students with disabilities. The STEM Lab contains a section in the DO-IT Knowledge Base, which has over 500 case studies, promising practices, and Q&As directly related to STEM issues regarding accessibility of technology, college, graduate school, and careers for individuals with disabilities directly.
