Phase 2:
RadioActive Youth Media: KOUW’s RadioActive Youth Media is where young people discover public radio journalism and gain access to the skills, community and institutional resources that spur their growth as media makers. Through their stories, listeners of all ages gain a deeper understanding of young people whose voices are rarely heard by the greater public. In this workshop you will learn about how to tell a story with a beginning, middle, and end. You will talk about what makes a great story and draw Story Idea Maps to help find stories in their own lives and communities.
NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration): NOAA Science Camp offers students and opportunity to dive into marine and atmospheric science with NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Who is NOAA, you may wonder? NOAA scientists study weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and fisheries and uses many marine and aviation tools to do their research. The work that NOAA does informs important policies to protect our coasts and ocean. This workshop will introduce students to earth and ocean sciences through virtual and hands-on activities, emphasizing solutions to real-world problems. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with NOAA scientists to learn more about their research and pathways to related marine careers.
Phase 1 and 2:
College Life: In this session you will be put in to small groups to meet with mentors with disabilities to talk about what college was/is like for them. Sample questions can be found on Canvas!
Phase 1 and 2:
