'01 Ambassadors
The following Ambassadors began participating in DO-IT as Scholars in 2001. They continue to pursue college and career goals and encourage younger DO-IT Scholars and Ambassadors.
Died April 3, 2003, from a respiratory infection. He looked forward to earning a college degree and becoming a software engineer.
Graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor's degree in sociology. Currently analyzing research data for a professor and is hoping to move on to a career working with video games or computers.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Died in his dorm room on February 18, 2004, after achieving his childhood dream of attending the University of Washington.
Cerebral Palsy
Graduated from Central Washington University with a major in family studies and a minor in creative writing.
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
Attends college in Portland, OR.
Visually impaired and mobility impaired
Attends Skagit Valley Community College in Mt. Vernon, WA.
C7 quadriplegic, profoundly deaf, and respiratorily fragile
Would like to be an elementary school or math teacher.
Neurofibromatosis
Attends Central Washington University working on a degree in social services.
Dyslexia and short-term memory defect
Attends Central Washington University, majoring in administration management.
Graduated from the Evergreen State College. Attending the University of Puget Sound to pursue a Master's degree in counseling. Earned a real estate license.
Deaf
Attends the University of Washington.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and bilateral clubfeet
Would like to work in a science field.
Cerebral Palsy
Earned an Associate's degree in education at Everett Community College. Plans to transfer to Central Washington University to pursue a teaching degree in special education.
Asperger Syndrome
Attends Shoreline Community College with the goal of working in the computer gaming industry.
Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP)
Graduated from Seattle Pacific University where she studied to be a Spanish/English interpreter/translator.
Deaf
Traveled before "settling down" to go to college.
Learning disability
Would like to become a history or science teacher.
Paraplegia
Attends the University of Arizona, majoring in business. Took a semester off to compete at the Wheelchair Track and Field World Championships in Amsterdam in the 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 5000m wheelchair track races, and is working to qualify for the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Will graduate from Clark College this winter with an Associate's degree and attend Evergreen State College or Washington State University.
