SOUTHEAST

Washington’s second-largest city, Spokane, serves as the business, transportation, medical and industrial hub for the area. Heading south beyond the bustle of the city is a blanket of small-town hospitality and charm in the most southeastern corner of the state.

The mountainous area of the region, partially made up of a small section of the Umatilla National Forest, resides in Columbia and Garfield counties.

In 2016, the UW and Gonzaga University formed the Regional Health Partnership to continue, enhance and expand medical education and research in Spokane.
