Men’s Sports
Baseball
As the University of Washington Club Baseball team, we compete at the D-I level of the NCBA in the Northern Pacific West Conference. The club provides UW students with the opportunity to play competitive baseball and create friendships with teammates.
Lacrosse
Established at the The University of Washington in 1973, UW Men’s Lacrosse has been a top-tier MCLA Division 1 program for over fifty years. We compete in the MCLA’s Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League (PNCLL). We prioritize Family, Academics, and Lacrosse, and pride ourselves on offering a competitive lacrosse environment while still allowing our players to receive a world-class education at a top university and develop as young men.
Ultimate Frisbee
The University of Washington Men’s Club Ultimate Frisbee Team, the Sundodgers, is a highly competitive and spirited squad that represents UW in the fast-paced sport of Ultimate. Known for their athleticism, teamwork, and dedication to the game, the Sundodgers compete in regional and national tournaments, consistently pushing for high-level play. They foster a culture of inclusivity and growth, welcoming players of all skill levels while striving for excellence on the field. With a strong sense of camaraderie, the team balances intense training with a fun, supportive environment, making the Sundodgers a tight-knit community at UW.
Volleyball
The Men’s Volleyball Club is a competitive club at UW that competes locally, regionally, and nationally. Comprising of three teams, our competitive and traveling A and B team, and our developmental C team. For the first time our C team will also be traveling and competing in our conference, PIVA, for the 2024-25 season. The club is always looking to grow organized competitive volleyball at UW hoping to create space for the fastest growing high school sport.
Women’s Sports
Lacrosse
We are the Washington Women’s Lacrosse Club at the University of Washington in Seattle. The University of Washington Women’s Lacrosse is a registered team with Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association as a part of the Northwest Women’s Lacrosse League (NWWLL). The University of Washington has attended Nationals three times.We are a team of passionate women from across the US dedicated to creating a competitive, supportive lacrosse team, instilling values of good sportsmanship, and fostering the love of lacrosse.
Rugby
Women’s Rugby welcomes everyone— no experience needed. In addition to playing competitive rugby, we foster a safe and inclusive environment to develop our rugby skills and make lifelong connections. Our season runs from fall to spring quarter, with practices typically taking place two to three times per week. Soccer
Women’s Club Soccer is a great place to play competitive soccer and make lots of friends! We have tryouts at the beginning of Fall quarter every year, and we play games against other Washington schools, as well as traveling to other states to play in tournaments. If you played on a club team in high school and are looking to continue playing competitively, club soccer might be a great fit for you!
Ultimate Frisbee
We are UW Element, a college D1 ultimate team at the University of Washington. We hold tryouts in October for a season which lasts from November through May, and compete in tournaments locally and across the country. Practices are usually held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. We hold ourselves to a high standard level of competitive play, finishing second in the nation at the 2021 USAU College Nationals and winning the national title in 2012.
Volleyball
Women’s Club Volleyball at UW is less competitive than traditional club/NCAA Athletics, but more competitive than Intramurals. We play in ‘PIVA’, a league that consists of schools from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and BC, Canada. We travel around to schools in this region, as well as NCVF Nationals in April.
Water Polo
We are the Women’s Water Polo Club at the UW! If you are interested in the sport or are looking to join a fun activity, water polo is it! We offer a mix of competitive play, weekly practices, and division-level tournaments. We are open to all experience levels, and hope you will enjoy water polo as much as we do!
Co-Ed Sports
Badminton
We are a group of University of Washington students devoted to the sport of badminton. This club is an effort to support and foster the large community of badminton players not only at UW, but the Greater Seattle area. We have undergraduate and graduate students from various majors, as well as some active alumni. We welcome players of all skill levels seeking to either improve their game, play competitive matches, or to just have FUN! We are also committed to create strong, lasting relations with other badminton clubs and schools in the country.
Canoe Family
We are č̓away̓altxʷ ʔiišəd – the Shellhouse Canoe Family at UW. We are an intertribal group of students, faculty, and staff that focus on participating in Tribal Canoe Journeys each summer. If you are interested in joining, please reach out to us at canoefamily@gmail.com to attend our meetings.
Climbing Team
The Climbing Team at the University of Washington is a community of passionate climbers who simply love to climb—whether indoors, outdoors, or even on our own doorframes! Focused on indoor competition climbing, the team trains year-round to compete in the NC3 Collegiate Climbing Circuit throughout the winter and spring seasons. Our varsity team strives for excellence and aims to qualify for USA Climbing (USAC) regionals, while our recreational team provides a relaxed and fun environment for climbers of all levels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned competitor, the Climbing Team at UW has a place for everyone to explore and grow in their climbing journey!
Cycling
Husky Cycling provides training and racing opportunities to UW students, staff, and faculty. We always welcome new members and hope you’ll join us for a ride sometime soon. Our goal is to build an inclusive bike team that supports riders at all levels. We work hard when we train, go fast on race days, and always find a way to enjoy ourselves and support each other. We have novices and experienced riders on our team. We are proudly student-run, and thanks to the fantastic Seattle cycling community, we get to train, race, and hang with some seriously fast (and fun) riders right here in the PNW.
Equestrian
We are a recreational and competitive equestrian team at the University of Washington. We host weekly meetings, volunteer with horse related organizations, and attend riding lessons at a nearby barn. Our competitive members, which comprise people of all levels, travel to compete against other colleges in the area in both hunt seat and western IHSA shows. Riders draw a random horse to compete on and score points based on their placing. Last season our hunt seat team qualified for zones and two rides individually qualified for nationals!
Roundnet
Husky Roundnet Club is a club dedicated to building a fun, inclusive community around Spikeball (Roundnet). Open to all skill levels, we host pick-up games and occasional tournaments for anyone looking to play, improve, or just have a great time. Whether you’re a pro or brand-new to the game, you’ll find a place here to connect with fellow Huskies, stay active, and enjoy the sport of roundnet!
Running
Husky Running Club welcomes runners of all abilities! We run every weekday and meet in the quad at 5pm. We have different daily routes such as Gasworks, Ravenna park and the arboretum! If you are new to running or experinced come join us for a run through Seattle and meet fellow UW students!
Sailing
We’re student athletes committed to excelling in the classroom, on the race course and in life. We welcome all sailors both experienced and new to get out on the water.
Skiing
The Husky Ski Team is a ski racing team that competes regionally against colleges across the Pacific Northwest. We take pride in the close-knit community we’ve cultivated over generations, bounded by a shared passion and love for skiing. Our team organizes ski trips and weekly training sessions, and competes in the Northwest Conference of the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association, participating in five races during the winter quarter. We aim to improve as skiers and become faster racers while having fun while doing so.
Squash
The Husky Squash Club at UW is a community of squash enthusiasts, from beginners to experienced players. We meet regularly to play, practice, and improve our game. If you’re looking for some friendly competition or just want to work on your skills, you’ll find plenty of people to play with. The club also competes in the college squash circuit, giving members the chance to test their skills in a more competitive setting. It’s a great way to stay active, meet new people, and enjoy the sport!
Swimming
Hello! We are a club looking to provide an inclusive community and offer a college swimming experience to swimmers of all levels and backgrounds. We request that prospective members demonstrate swimming proficiency. Quarterly meets against local and national competition are scheduled but are not required, our overall goal is to have fun and swim.
Table Tennis
The Husky Table Tennis Club is open to anyone from complete beginners to competitive players. Along with three open-play practices a week, we host casual leagues where players have the opportunity to earn rating and climb the club rankings. We also offer private lessons for those wanting to boost their performance or train for fun. More info can be found on socials on our linktree. Hope to see you there!
Tennis
Husky Tennis Club hosts weekly practices for all levels to advance their tennis skills. For those interested, we have a tournament team where players tryout at the beginning of the year, and are invited to different tournaments each quarter. We have the opportunity to attend Sectionals and Nationals, while also traveling to places like Oregon and Canada for other tournaments. Outside of the tournament team, we hold social events like Grand Slam watch parties and karaoke nights to get to know each other better.
Triathlon
We are a group of athletes who love to swim, bike and run. Some members are competitive and experienced triathletes pushing themselves to new personal best times, while others are just starting out or prefer to train and race more socially. We have members who are competitive at the regional and national levels, and others who just recently learned to swim. Wherever you fall on this spectrum, if you share a passion for multisport and want to train and race with others who share that passion, then this is the club for you!
Union Bay Rowing Club
UBRC is a recreational rowing club open to rowers (and coxswains!) of all experience levels in the University of Washington community. Whether you have never stepped into a rowing shell before, spent far too much time on an erg, or have been a member of the rowing community for years, there is a spot for you with us! We are focused on improving the rowing skills of each member while making fond memories out on the water both at practices and at local regattas. Practices are held from 7 – 9 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at the Waterfront Activities Center (WAC) throughout the year (except during summers) — we hope you’ll join us!
Martial Arts
Aikido – Kannagara
Aikido is a non violent martial art that focuses on using an attackers energy and momentum against them. Along with hand to hand we also use jo (short staff) and bokken (wooden katana) to practice. Aikido is very beginner friendly whether you have martial arts experience or not, and is a great way to learn self defense and coordination.
Archery
We accept new members all year-round and are open to all levels of experience. Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 3-5pm. We offer improvement workshops, competition opportunities, seasonal events, and field trips. Come check us out in the Archery Room (#106) in the IMA!
Boxing
Husky boxing club is for those interested in learning how to box and competing against other schools and boxing gyms. We pride on ourselves on our 4 core values: Pride, Poise, Team, and Family. We are guided by a philosophy of working hard and playing hard: last year, we won the Men’s and Women’s divisions of the USIBA national boxing tournament while maintaining an average GPA of 3.5. No experience is required to join the team, just grit and dedication. We train 3 times a week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8:15-10:15 pm at Emerald City Boxing Gym in Roosevelt. If you are interested in joining, we hold tryouts every fall so keep an eye out on our Instagram page and DM us with any questions!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art that uses technique and leverage to restrain and subdue opponents. Come learn and train BJJ with people who love it! We welcome both new and experienced practitioners. BJJ at UW is grouped into a class for beginners and a club for people with experience. Class registration is through UW Recreation.
Judo
Judo, meaning “the gentle way,” is a Japanese martial art focused on using holds and leverage to unbalance your opponent. Whether you’re an experienced judoka or new to the sport, our club welcomes all skill levels. Our mission is to help you develop your skills, grow the judo community, and foster a supportive environment here at UW. We also provide financial aid for members to compete in local and national tournaments. Come be part of a team that strengthens body and mind!
Karate – Shotokan
The Shotokan Karate Club at the University of Washington has been in existence for 30 years. We use University facilities for our practice. In exchange we teach the Shotokan Karate Sports and Fitness class, providing interested students with the opportunity to train and learn. The majority of our club members are students who have completed the Sports and Fitness class and subsequently joined the club.
We strive to strengthen body, mind and spirit, perfect character, and faithfully transmit the art to future generations.
Kung Fu/Tai Chi
We are a group of students and faculty interested in or dedicated to improving our athletic ability through Kung Fu. The UW Kung Fu & Tai Chi Club is a satellite school of the Seattle Kung Fu Club, considered to be the premiere Kung Fu association in the region and partnered with Chi Life Studios
Taekwondo
Husky Taekwondo aims to provide a high quality training environment for taekwondo practitioners of any level, from beginners to national level competitors. In addition, we aim to create fun and positive environment for our students and club members. We also hope to foster a better community by bringing together members from different collegiate taekwondo clubs.
Wrestling
We are the Husky Wrestling Club @UW! Our goal is to allow students the opportunity to continue to wrestle and develop their skills, whether it be just for exercise, to learn a new skill, or to continue to compete. We are a part of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) Northwest Conference and send wrestlers to the National Tournament every year! We are open to all skill/ability levels so feel free to stop by and get involved.
Wushu
Husky Wushu at UW is a student organization at the University of Washington that practices and promotes wushu, a contemporary Chinese martial art derived from traditional Kung Fu. Wushu combines explosive force, graceful movements, and acrobatic stunts. Forms in wushu can be performed with bare hands, broadsword, straightsword, staff, spear, and other weapons. Wushu is primarily composed of three styles: long fist (changquan 长拳), derived from northern styles, southern fist (nanquan 南拳), derived from southern styles, and tai chi (taijiquan 太极拳). Throughout the year, we perform at various events and compete at the annual collegiate wushu tournament. Our team includes students from different experience levels, ages, and backgrounds. We welcome everyone, so stop by and practice with us! The Husky Wushu Team is a student organization at the University of Washington that practices and promotes Wushu, a form of contemporary Chinese martial arts.
