Expert on inflammatory bowel disease coming to UW
Dr. Martin Chang, a leading expert on inflammatory bowel disease, will be at the UW Nov. 14 through 16 as the Wade Volwiler visiting professor for the Division of Gastroenterology, part of the Department of Medicine.
Chang directs the Research Center on Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the University of Chicago, where he is Martin Boyer professor of medicine.
He will present Medical Grand Rounds at 8 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, in room T-625 of the Health Sciences Center, speaking on “Current Concepts of the Pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.”
Chang will also present a research seminar for the Division of Gastroenterology at 8:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 16, in room K-069, HSC. His topic then is “Can We Protect Our Gut Against Injury?” While in Seattle, he will also address the Pacific Northwest Gastroenterology Society and hold an evening meeting with fellowship trainees in gastroenterology.
Chang earned his medical degree and completed training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at the University of Chicago. Except for a short period at Columbia University, he has remained at the University of Chicago.
The Wade Volwiler Visiting Professorship is named for the founding head of the Division of Gastroenterology, who held the position for 33 years. It is funded entirely by donations from past trainees in the division.
