Benditt Lecture today



“Genetics in Everyday Life” is the topic for the 6th annual Earl P. Benditt Endowed Lecture, to be presented this afternoon, Thursday, Jan. 10, at 4:30 p.m. in room T-739 of the Health Sciences Center. The speaker is Dr. David Cox, professor of genetics at Standord University and co-director of Stanford’s Human Genome Center. The lecture is dedicated to the memory and legacy of Dr. Benditt, who was professor and chair of the Department of Pathology from 1957 to 1981 and died in 1996.




Workshop on publishing



A faculty development workshop organized by the Department of Medical Education will focus on “Publishing in Peer-Reviewed Biomedical Journals.” The workshop, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to noon in South Campus Center, is primarily for junior faculty and fellows who want to enhance their ability to publish in high-prestige journals. Dr. Carin Olson, associate professor of medicine and a contributing editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, will lead the session.
