Home fair set for three UW locations

HomeStreet Bank’s third annual Spring Home Fair for UW employees is set for three dates in April.

HomeStreet’s Affinity Lending Center will have professionals on hand to talk about gardening, landscaping and home remodeling. There will also be realtors, home inspectors and contractors on hand who can answer questions about purchasing a home.

The first date is Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in 106B of the HUB. Another home fair will be held at the Health Sciences Lobby on Tuesday, April 23 from

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The final date is Wednesday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Auditorium A in Harborview.

UW employees are eligible to participate in a special lending program offered by HomeStreet Bank’s Affinity Lending Center. The program includes reduced loan fees and closing costs, eligibility for the Homeownership Opportunity Initiative Loan Program, down payment assistance programs, free pre-approvals, and free participation in homebuyer education seminars

The Spring Home Fair will also include information for others. Members of the UW Retirement Association and affiliated retirement communities University House at Wallingford and University House at Issaquah will be on hand. The UWRA offers many benefits for members and their families, including advance placement and entrance fee discounts.

Also represented at the home fair will be the city of Seattle’s Help For Working Families Program, which connects Seattle residents with a variety of money-saving services; the UW School of Law’s Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic will be there to talk about tax implications of home ownership, refinancing and remodeling; and the new saver’s tax credit will be explained by an official from TIAA-CREF.
