The Institute for Ethnic Studies in the United States (IESUS) invites applications from University of Washington faculty members who are engaged in or are beginning projects related to ethnic studies.

BOARD OF REGENTS MEETING CHANGES








At the direction of the President of the Board of Regents, the time of the May meeting has been changed. The May 17 meeting of the Board of Regents will begin at 2:30 p.m.; it is currently scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.








The location of the July meeting of the Board of Regents has been changed. The July 19 meeting of the Board of Regents will be in the Donald Petersen Room, Allen Library, at 1 p.m.; it is currently scheduled to be held in the West Ballroom, Husky Union Building (HUB).








The location of the November meeting has been identified. The Nov. 22 meeting of the Board of Regents will be in Spokane at the Davenport Hotel, 10 South Post St., at 1 p.m.; it is currently scheduled to be in Spokane but the location is not identified.








PARKING RENEWAL BEGINS








This year Parking Services is pleased to provide a new method that makes annual renewal of U-PASSes and parking permits a quick process — renewal via the Web. This easy-to-use method gives users a Web form that is secure, efficient and paperless. The annual renewal period begins on Monday, April 15 and goes through Friday, May 17. Starting April 15, you can link to the Web renewal form by clicking on the link in the Timely Tips section at the top of on the Parking Services’ Web site (www.washington.edu/admin/parking). Once at the form, follow the step-by-step instructions to renew your annual U-Pass/permit.








Paper renewal forms will also be mailed to customers in order to obtain renewal information from those unable to renew via the Web. The paper forms will include step-by-step instructions and will be mailed prior to the April 15 annual renewal start date.








If you have questions, concerns or comments about annual renewal procedures, please e-mail the Permit Issuance Office at their new, direct address — prkissue@u.washington.edu — or call 206-685-1543 and press “0” to speak directly to a Permit Issuance staff person.








Please remember that all campus parking violations must be satisfactorily settled before a permit will be renewed.








SUMMER WEEKEND HOMESTAY








UW English Language Programs is once again looking for individuals and families to host Japanese university students for the Summer Weekend Homestay program. Volunteers host one or two Japanese students for one weekend.








It’s an excellent opportunity to…
















  •  give your family an enjoyable cross-cultural experience








  •  learn about Japanese customs and beliefs








  •  learn some Japanese words and phrases








  •  make international friends








Hosts are needed for the following weekends: Aug. 9–11, Aug. 23–25, Aug. 30–Sept. 2 (Labor Day Weekend)
