RESCUE AT SEA: Members of the sailing teams at Texas A&M University at Galveston, Texas A&M University, and the University of Texas rescued six occupants of a van after the vehicle plunged into a bay near where a racing regatta was about to start. The students, diving repeatedly in the 60 degree water, used rocks from shore to break the van windows and rescue five people who were stranded in the van. A sixth occupant of the van surfaced to initially draw the sailors’ attention.

‘DEAD LOVELY’ NEWSLETTER: A parenting newsletter produced at the University of Wisconsin has been translated into… English. That’s right, English. The UW Extension and School of Human Ecology newsletter — Parenting the First Year — has been translated into British English and is drawing rave reviews from new mums across the pond. The translation changed terms like diapers into nappies and strollers to prams. According to newsletter author Dori Schatell, mothers in England say the newsletter is “dead lovely” and encourage her to “bang on.”
