LEGAL NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 5 in Room 309 of the Husky Union Building (HUB) at the University of Washington, Seattle campus. The purpose of the hearing is to allow all interested persons an opportunity to present their views, either orally or in writing, on the proposed amendments for WAC 478–132–030, “University Calendar.”

The University of Washington proposes changing the autumn quarter calendar to provide time at the beginning of autumn quarter for new student orientation and additional time for grading and other end-of-quarter activities prior to the winter holidays. Additionally, the University proposes modifying the beginning of winter quarter to allow at least one day between January 1 and the first day of the quarter. Although the amendments to the University calendar will not be effective until autumn quarter 2004, adoption of this amendment is sought now to provide adequate long-range planning time for the University of Washington’s academic and administrative programs.

Advance copies of the proposed WAC rules may be obtained by contacting Rebecca Goodwin Deardorff, Director, Administrative Procedures Office, 4014 University Way N.E., Seattle, WA 98105–6203; Campus Mail: Box 355509; or by phone at 206–543–9199. Copies will also be available at the public hearing.

Persons wishing to provide written comment may submit their remarks to Deardorff at the above address, by e-mail to adminpro@u.washington.edu, or by fax to 206–616–6294, by Feb. 5.
