Registration open for Mini-Medical School

UW Medicine is offering the chance to learn about medical science, patient care and cutting-edge research by attending Mini-Medical School 2004. The six-part series begins Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in Hogness Auditorium. Programs are scheduled for every Wednesday evening through March 17.

Dr. Carlos Pellegrini, Harkins professor and chair of the Department of Surgery, and Dr. Ed Walker, medical director of UW Medical Center and associate dean of UW School of Medicine, are the hosts.

A charitable donation to UW Medicine is suggested in lieu of a registration fee. Space is limited, so pre-registration is necessary. Call 685-9420, or register online at http://courses.washington.edu/minimed/

  • Feb. 11: Drs. Ed Walker and Doug Paauw, “It Starts with the Story.”
  • Feb. 18: “Alzheimer’s Disease: Evolving Approaches,” with Drs. John Breitner and Satoshi Minoshima.
  • Feb. 25: “Liver Transplantation: A Team Approach,” with Drs. Robert Carithers and Adam Levy.
  • March 3: “Modern Day Conception To Delivery – This Is Not Your Mother’s Pregnancy,” with Drs. Tom Easterling, Nancy Klein and Larry Shields.
  • March 10: “Is The Glass Half Full Or Half Empty? Living With Chronic Illness” with Drs. Irl Hirsch and Stu Farber.
  • March 17: “Surgery Now And Beyond: Anything Is Possible, ” with Drs. Richard Ellenbogen and Richard Satava.
