Photo display honors award recipients

Recipients of University-wide awards are being honored with a new “Hall of Fame” type display in the first floor foyer of Gerberding Hall. Photos of the winners of Distinguished Teaching, Distinguished Staff and other awards are now mounted on the walls in the area. A reception for the award winners on Friday, April 2, will officially open the display.

“We used to have a donor recognition wall in that area, but it outgrew the space,” said Marsha Donaldson, special projects manager in Development & Alumni Relations. “So we moved the donor display to Suzzallo and decided the Gerberding space would be a great place to recognize annual award winners.”

The 8 x 10 photos currently displayed are of the 2003 winners. They’ll be given to the winners when photos of the 2004 honorees are mounted in June.

The reception is a one-time event, offered because the 2003 photos only recently went up. In the future, award winners’ photos will go up at the same time they are honored at the annual Recognition Ceremony.

The display was designed by Ken Widmeyer and Fran Terry of Widmeyer Design, who also designed the Husky Fever Hall of Fame at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Construction and alterations were performed by Campus Alterations under the direction of Landon Conrad. The reception is at 4 p.m.
