Rehabilitation Medicine hosts 19th annual Lehmann Symposium

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine will hold the 19th annual Justus F. Lehmann Symposium from noon to 5 p.m., Friday, June 11, in South Campus Center. The event features research presentations from residents and faculty members, as well as a keynote speaker.

Dr. Randolph Nudo, director of the Center on Aging at the University of Kansas Medical Center, is the keynote speaker and will give presentations on “Neuroplasticity as a Basis for Stroke Rehabilitation” and “Preclinical Models of Cortical Stimulation for Stroke Recovery.” His research focuses on translating basic science into more effective clinical interventions for age-related neurological disorders.

In addition to Nudo’s presentations, department faculty will speak on brain injury and pain in spinal cord injury and cerebral palsy.

The event is named in honor of Dr. Lehmann, who chaired the department from its founding in 1957 until 1986.

No registration is required. A light lunch will be served during the poster session from noon to 1 p.m. For more information, contact Linda Smith at 206-685-2174
