FHCRC division head
Dr. Jim Roberts, affiliate professor of biochemistry at the UW, has been named director of the Basic Sciences Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC). He succeeds Dr. Mark Groudine, professor of radiation oncology at the UW, who will be spending more time in his position as deputy director of the FHCRC. Roberts will be assisted by Dr. Jonathan Cooper, affiliate professor of biochemistry, and 2004 Nobel Laureate Linda Buck, affiliate professor of physiology and biophysics, who will be associate directors of the Basic Sciences Division.


Faculty development
A faculty development workshop on communication is planned by the Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics and the Office of Faculty Development in the School of Medicine. Britt Poulson of Poulson Leadership consultants will lead the session from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at South Campus Center. “Improve Your Communication, Improve Your Leadership” is the title.
