Magazine’s ‘Best Doctors’ edition features several UW stories

The July issue of Seattle Metropolitan magazine includes a number of stories about Health Sciences and UW Medicine.

The magazine features the UW Human Interface Technology Lab, with Hunter Hoffman, director of the Virtual Reality Analgesia Research Center, and Dr. David Patterson, professor of rehabilitation medicine at Harborview Medical Center.

The cancer vaccine research of Dr. Nora Disis, associate professor of medicine, is also featured, as is the “caloric restriction” research work of Dr. Peter Rabinovitch, professor of pathology.

A timeline of milestones charts Seattle’s medical history, including many breakthroughs at UW, the founding of the School of Medicine in 1946 and the five Nobel laureates in medicine.

Much of the issue is devoted to a comprehensive listing of “Seattle’s Best Doctors.” Listed in this section are 315 specialists in 77 fields, including more than 120 UW-affiliated faculty physicians practicing at UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center. The section includes short profiles of Dr. Doug Paauw of UWMC, Dr. John Sheffield of Harborview, and Dr. Stanley Stamm of Children’s.
