UW Fulbright Scholars to consider ocean policy, poverty, building materials

His first Fulbright grant brought him from Poland to the UW, where he was ultimately hired by the School of Marine Affairs and became a naturalized citizen. His second Fulbright Scholar grant, will find him returning to Poland — for a visit — to teach and collaborate with researchers at the Warsaw School of Economics.

Vlad Kaczynski, associate professor emeritus of marine affairs and international studies, will be in Warsaw next spring, some 30 years after he arrived on that first, fateful Fulbright here at the UW.

He’s one of six Fulbright Scholars from UW who will travel abroad during the 2006-2007 academic year, according to a list published last month by the Fulbright Program. The exchange program is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
