Maloney heads state medical association

Dr. W. Hugh Maloney has been elected president of the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA). The WSMA represents more than 9,000 physicians, residents, medical students and physician assistants throughout Washington state.


Maloney is a practicing internist at the Kent Des Moines Clinic of the UW Medicine Neighborhood Clinics.


In addition to his involvement in the WSMA, Maloney is also serving as the Governor of the Washington Chapter of American College of Physicians. He also is a staff member of the UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, and Swedish Medical Center. He serves as a clinical instructor in the UW Department of Medicine. He has served in leadership positions with the Seattle Academy of Internal Medicine, and the American Society of Internal Medicine. He is a passionate advocate for the practicing clinician, working to simplify the delivery of care, decrease the administrative complexities for physicians and their patients, and preserve the tenets of medical professionalism.


Maloney received his medical degree from Temple University and his master’s in health administration from the UW.
